Waipahu Complex Community of Learners Summit - 2015
In October 2015, the Marauder Rascals were one of the few groups of students that were selected to hold a session at the school's development summit. Here, we encouraged and presented the importance of STEM Education to many teachers, counselors, and school faculty from the Waipahu Complex Area. Being that the event took place during the VEX Nothing But Net Season, we also went over the Design Process of our robot and engaged our audience through a wide range of hands-on activities.

Waipahu High School Fairs - Annually
Waipahu High School holds three fairs each year: Club Rush, Safety Fair, and Spring Fair. At each of these, the Rascals operate a booth, in which we raise awareness about our club and the VEX, FIRST, and STEM Conference Competitions that we participate in.
|
Club Rush: During the Fall, each of Waipahu High School's clubs attempt to recruit new members for the new school year. Here, the Rascals spark interest through live robot demonstrations. Our audience are given the opportunity to drive around our robots as well.
Safety Fair: In the Winter, the school holds a fair that promotes safety, being drug free, and living a healthy life. Here, we Waipahu High School students about industry safety and the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), while organizing a fun robot-based game revolving around the VEX Season. Spring Fair: A fundraising and food fair, the Rascals take advantage of this event to fundraise for the competitions that we participate in. We hold a massively popular Pie-Your-Teacher event, and allow students and teachers to operate our robots as well. |
Waipahu McDonald'S Showcase - Annually
After our FIRST Build Season, we hold a showcase at our local McDonald's. We educate the Waipahu Community about the FIRST Program and the Design Process of our robot.
We also do our part to inspire the community to get involved with the FIRST Program. We talk about our experiences in the program to our audience, inclining them to get involved in their school's FLL, Jr. FLL, or FRC teams, or their robotics program in general. We also hold live demonstrations and allow our audience to operate our robots. |

St. Philomena Early Learning Center
|
As of 2016, we have been holding periodical STEM Days at one of our former member's preschool, the St. Philomena Early Learning Center in Salt Lake, O'ahu, HI.
We volunteer in the classrooms and assist teachers with organizing classroom materials and attending to the student's needs. We also organize hands-on STEM activities with building blocks and our robots to inspire them to explore and enter the field of STEM. |
Waipahu Public Library
In the Summer of 2017, we held two showcases at the Waipahu Public Library. Here, we introduced the visiting kids to the concept of STEM via our VEX In the Zone prototype robots and K-NEX kits.
We thank the Waipahu Public Library staff for allowing us to host our demonstration and hope to continue hosting more activities here in the future! |
