Who Are We?
We are the Marauder Rascals, a Robotics and STEM Club that is based out of Waipahu High School. Founded in 2008, we have participated in numerous competitions and events that are related to the field of engineering. We participate in the VEX Robotics Competition in the Fall, the FIRST Robotics Competition in the Spring, and the Hawai'i STEM Conference in the Summer.
Though Waipahu High School had an FRC and VEX team in the past (#636 and #941, respectively) that won the Silicon Valley Regional in 2001, and competed in several VEX Competitions, interest in robotics at our school fell apart. #2477 was created in an effort to bring the once prestigious program back to life. This led to the establishment of Waipahu High School's Academy of Engineering. Our mission is to provide and create opportunities for students that are interested in exploring the field of STEM. We strive to be a group of RASCALS: a Robotics and STEM Club, Advocating Leadership Skills. We seek to prepare each Rascal with the skills needed to excel beyond high school. |
Waipahu High School
Waipahu High School is a large, single-track school located on the island of O'ahu in the state of Hawai'i.
Each of its approximately 2,500 students are enrolled in one of six career-based pathways: Arts and Communications, Business and Public Services, the Academy of Health and Sciences, the Academy of Engineering, Industrial and Engineering Technology, and the Academy of Natural Resources. These smaller learning communities are designed to prepare students for success in their related fields. Waipahu High School also boasts the largest percentage of its student population enrolled in college-level courses. The Early College program at the school allows students to earn credits towards the University of Hawai'i system, with free courses offered through Leeward Community College and the University of Hawai'i, West O'ahu. |
